Psalm 7:10 “My shield is God Most High who saves the upright in heart”

In a time of struggle when King David needed a refuge, he calls God his shield.  Many times we find ourselves in times of struggle where we are tempted to go on in our own strength. We end up trying to be a shield to ourselves.

What should we do? We should follow the thoughts of King David and have God as our shield.  Why?  Because God saves the upright in heart. Because God is our Father.  Because God loves us with an unfailing love!

Tonight we took our daughters to the local pool.  One of our girls found herself in the middle of a group of teenagers who were splashing and playing pretty hard.  She tried to shield herself from all the water, yet she was not very effective.  When I went over to help her and serve as her shield it was much more effective.  Why?  Because I am her Father and can handle the situation much better than she can as a little girl.

So what can we do?  Live upright in heart and allow God to be the shield.
