Daily Demand of Discipline August 9, 2006

1 Timothy 4:7b “discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.”

Anything that is worth doing takes discipline.  Just think of all there areas of life that demand discipline.  It takes discipline to exercise regularly.  It takes discipline to spend quality time in the Word and prayer.  It takes discipline to witness to people.  It takes discipline to lose weight.  it takes discipline to love the people around us. It takes discipline to manage your schedule effectively. The list could go on and on of all the areas that demand daily discipline.

Paul gives us the proper perspective for discipline.  There is a great purpose involved in living a life of discipline.  That purpose is godliness.  That is pretty good motivation. We need motivation to be disciplined in life. Be encouraged today to live a life of discipline.  Whtether it is is discipline to avoid eating the wrong food, or discipline to study the Scriptures or maybe even discipline to share the gospel, do it all for the purpose of growing in godliness.
