Here are some more pictures from our trip to Indonesia in August.

Here is our team waiting to fly out from St Louis.

Here we are during our layover in Singapore.  You can see the stylish backpacks we all had.  Well, all of us except Chuck and his maroon 1985 version. 🙂

I know what you are thinking.  Why in the world is he posting a picture of a bathroom?  One of the interesting cultural experiences was getting to use the ‘bak.’  The bak is the thing in the corner next to the toliet.  To shower you would stand next to it, dip water out of it and pour it over yourself.  The water runs off in to a drain in the floor.  Pretty much everything in the bathroom gets wet, but in the end you do get clean.

On our first night in Indonesia we stayed in a hotel.  On the shower in the hotel was the above sign.  None of us quite understood what it meant.  However, when we understood the concept of the bak, this sign then made perfect sense.

This is a boat that landed on this house during the Tsunami.  It was one of the most amazing sites we saw on our tour of the area.  They are rebuilding the house underneath the boat and it appears as if they are just going to leave the boat there as a marker of the event.

I hope you have enjoyed these pictures from our trip.  It was a truly life changing experience.  I truly believe that everyone needs to go on a trip like this to experience all that God is doing around the world.
