Winter Wonderland December 1, 2006

Yesterday we had an ice storm come through our part of Missouri.  About 5:15pm we lost power at the house and it did not come back on until 4am this morning.  Needless, to say it was cold enough in our house to be a cave.  We all bundled up and had flashlights and candles ready to go for the evening.  Growing up in NW Indiana this was not that big of a deal to us, just part of the joy of winter.  Although I am not sure everyone around here sees it that way.

This morning we got up to a couple inches of snow on top of all the ice.  We were pretty lucky in the snow department.  Other parts of Missouri got over 20 inches of snow.  I thought I would share some of the pictures I took this morning from our house and around town. Hope you enjoy them and stay warm in Caveland!

This is looking at the front of our house.  You can see the snow and the ice on the tree.  We do not have many trees in our yard so we did not have much damage.

Here is a shot looking out at our backyard.  The girls went out this morning and played back here for about 5 minutes until their hands got too cold.  It actually took longer to get them dressed than time outside.

This is on my drive to church this morning.  You can see some of the damage to the trees in town.  The roads were also pretty icy and had to be very careful driving.

This is a tree in the yard at church.  The ice on the branches looked beautiful.

Even in the midst of such a storm, God is in complete control!

Psalm 147:4-5 “He determines the number of stars and calls them each by name.  Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.”
